Mary of Nazareth School

Kindergarten

Children enter kindergarten with a wide range of personal experiences from little or no preschool exposure to students who have attended an all-day, academic focused program. The kindergarten team at Mary of Nazareth School embraces each child at his/her developmental stage and works to cultivate life-long learners through a child centered, yet rigorous, curriculum aligned to the academic and faith formation standards established by the Archdiocese of Washington.

Kindergarten students develop fundamental reading and math skills through research-based instructional programs that have been proven to engage all students. These programs offer the flexibility to challenge the proficient learner as well as to support the struggling learner. Religion is taught, modeled and practiced throughout the child’s day. There is a hands-on, interactive approach to science and social studies as well as the development of social skills through centers and structured learning activities. Kindergarten students are fully engaged in the fine arts, physical education, and computer technology curriculum offered in the classroom.
