 Notes From the Office
  • Please see the letter HERE from Mrs. Karen Vassallo, Chair of the MoN Board of Directors, regarding tuition for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • We will dismiss at NOON this Friday, March 22.  Aftercare is available.
  • There will be a used uniform sale on Friday, March 22 from 11:30 until 3:00 in the courtyard near the Faculty parking lot.  Cash or check only, small bills please.  We need volunteers from 11:00 on!  Please email Paola Ortiz to help.  Students may begin wearing spring uniforms on Monday, April 1.
  • Beginning with Fall 2019, we will change the girls' plaid shorts worn with the Fall/Spring uniform (grades K-5) to a plaid skortShorts will be grandfathered in for ONE YEAR, and may not be worn after the 2019- 2020 school year.  Beginning with the Fall of 2020, girls must wear the skort if they choose to wear the Fall/Spring uniform.  There are samples in the office - stop by and check them out!
  • Friday is the end of the third quarter.  Report cards will be available on Wednesday, April 3.  Please remember that in order to view your child's report cards all outstanding financial obligations to the school must be met (hot lunch, extended care, tuition, etc.)  Please contact Mrs. Andrea Murphy with questions.
  • Volunteers are needed for the Benefit Auction event setup and event night - sign up here! Don't forget to purchase your event tickets (sales end 3/25).
  • The Powerpoint presented by Dr. Jonathan Dalton at the HSA meeting on March 13 is available on the website under "HSA", "HSA General Meeting Minutes".
  • Please consider volunteering to be a host for a family new to MoN.  See below to sign up.  
  • The first day of school for students for the 2019-2020 school year is Tuesday, September 3, 2019. The Open House will be Friday, August 30, 2019.
  • CORRECTION to last week's newsletter:  Spirit Day is Friday, May 10.

Shrek Jr. Shout Outs!

Shrek Jr. Program Shout Outs! DEADLINE: Saturday, March 30, 2019. Everyone loves this option! Put a "shout out" to your actor, friend, student in the Shout Out section of the program. Shout outs are $5 per line. See examples and instructions at the link below. Half Page and Full Page Advertisements. Shrek Jr. Program

Half Page and Full Page Advertisements. Shrek Jr. Program Cheer on your actor, friends, students with a message or photo, or advertise your business in the Shrek program. We will have 1/2-page and full-page ads. "Camera-ready" artwork/photos are appreciated, but Mrs. McBride can help with layout. Commercial ads are great, too! Ads will be $50 for a half-page and $100 for a full page. All revenue helps offset the cost of the production, as well as contribute to our theatre program equipment. NJHS Reading Buddies are back!

Students in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade are invited to get lost in a great book with members of the National Junior Honor Society. We will meet from 3:25 (end of dismissal) until 4:00 p.m. in the art room. Each date is limited to 30 students, so be sure to sign up soon! 

Come prepared with your favorite books and a peanut-free snack and you'll enjoy reading time with an older buddy.

This program runs all year. Please submit your Box Tops labeled with your child’s homeroom to the front office.
Save the caps and box codes from your Coca-Cola products and points earned may be used to purchase classroom supplies.
Area stores offer reward programs to support the HSA. If you are a frequent shopper at Giant and/or Harris Teeter, be sure to link your shopping cards to their A+ Rewards and Together in Education (TIE) programs respectively.

Help support the HSA without spending any extra cash. The SCRIP program features gift cards to many popular stores, restaurants and retail establishments nationwide. SCRIP cards are used just like cash in stores, and most can be used to purchase from the retailer’s online store. Participating retailers may be viewed here.

HSA Open Positions for 2019-2021 Term


The HSA Elections will be held in May and the Nominating Committee is looking for candidates to run for the open positions of President and First Vice President. Any member of the community is eligible for these positions as long as they have paid their 2018-2019 HSA Dues. If you or someone you know is interested in either position or has questions about the responsibilities of the positions, we encourage you to contact the members of the Nominating Committee, Colleen Shea (, Daniella Diaz (, or Julie O'Brien (

The deadline for nominations is April 15, 2019.

Cheer Club

Come have fun learning our squad cheers and basic stunts. Cheer club starts up Thursdays in May and runs for six weeks. Please see attached registration form and feel free to contact Leslie at if you have any questions.


Track Team and Registration


The MoN track team is open to all K-8 students and parish members. Our mission is dedicated to promoting fun, teaching fundamental skills, and developing an enjoyment of running that can carry through life. Team work and striving for personal improvement are emphasized. This season the MoN track team will have two formal league options to participate in (CYO League and the Columbus League). Whether you're a serious track athlete or have never run in a formal track event, we have the appropriate level of competition for your athlete.

Practice: Practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 - 7:00 pm (typically Northwest HS in Germantown) starting March 19.

K-1 Soccer Clinic

This spring, the Mary of Nazareth Sports Committee is offering an 8 week long soccer skills programs for Kindergarten and 1st grade students.   MoN students as well as children from member parishes are welcome to attend.

During the clinic, coaches will work with players on fundamental skills, such as dribbling, running with the ball, moves and control, shooting and teamwork. 

The clinic will be lead by a professional coaching team with licenses/certification from the English Football Association, European Union Football Association and US Soccer.

Players will be grouped by age/ability and will focus on fundamental elements: Technical, Tactical, Social and Physical. 

The cost is $135
(8 sessions).
Sessions will be Saturdays, at MoN, from 9am to 1030am, starting at the end of March/early April (TBD)

Space is limited, so registration is on a first come, first served basis.
