Open HSA Positions for 2020-2022 Term

The HSA Nominating Committee is looking for parents who would like to be nominated for the HSA Executive Committee positions that will be open at the end of the school year.

The open positions all have a two-year term.

The Positions that will need to be filled are:

  • Treasurer
  • Second Vice President
  • Secretary
Each of these positions is vitally important to the running of the Home and School Association. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact any of the members of the HSA Executive Committee. Or you can contact one of the members of the Nominating Committee: Colleen Shea (sheadc@aol.com) Daniela Diaz (danielacdiaz1@gmail.com) Julie O'Brien (jobrien3@mmm.com). Please consider serving in these rewarding positions and keep the HSA running strong.

SCRIP CARDS

Help support the HSA without spending any extra cash. The SCRIP program features gift cards to many popular stores, restaurants and retail establishments nationwide. SCRIP cards are used just like cash in stores, and most can be used to purchase from the retailer’s online store. Participating retailers may be viewed here.

How SCRIP Works?  Buy $100 worth of SCRIP from the MoN HSA and spend the exact same $100 at stores, restaurants, gas stations, or hotels. Your additional cost of buying and using SCRIP is zero. Anywhere from 1.25% to 6% of your purchase, depending on the merchant, will be donated back to the HSA.

Next Order Deadline January 17th.

For more information or questions, contact Jennifer Stonesifer.

Box Tops are going digital!

As you've probably noticed during your grocery shopping, the Box Top program is changing. Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. CLIP IT!
OLD BOX TOPS

The traditional Box Tops  (above) are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You can still clip them and send them to school.

Every valid Box Tops clip is worth 10¢ for MoN. Send those Box Tops in right away and don't forget to mark your child’s homeroom clearly on the bag so the class can get credit!
NEW BOX TOPS

Don't let the Box Tops expire in your kitchen drawer!! SCAN IT! When you see the new Scan it Box Tops label on packages (above), use the NEW Box Tops app to scan your store receipt and our school will automatically earn Box Tops for any participating products purchased at any store and will instantly add cash to MoN's earnings.

Box Tops are still worth 10¢ each for our school. There's no need to clip Box Tops labels or send them to school! GIVE CREDIT! Each time you scan a receipt, be sure to look for the credit icon in the Box Tops app and give credit to your child's class!

Contact Paige at paige.dullaghan@verizon.net with any questions.

Join Chess Club!

Would your child like to learn how to play chess?  Or does he or she already know how to play and would like to strengthen his/her skills?  Your child should join MoN's Chess Club!  Chess Club is taught by experienced Silver Knights instructors using a curriculum development by National Masters.  Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play.  Playing chess is a great way to develop a child's critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and patience -- all while having fun!  Chess Club is open to all children kindergarten and above and meets on Thursdays after school.  Contact Laura Scaletti (laura.scaletti@gmail.com) with any questions.  Online registration can be found here: https://skenrichment.com/clubs/montgomery/product/mary-of-nazareth-catholic-school-chess-club-winter-2020.html.

Join Coding Club!

Does your child like computers?  Is he or she interested in learning to create mini-games and animations?  Is your child in at least second grade?  If the answer to these questions is “yes!”, then your child should join the Coding Club!  In Coding Club, kids learn to code their own games and animations using Scratch.  MIT developed Scratch 10 years ago to give kids a fun way to learn programming skills and computational thinking.  Each multi-week session includes all new projects that all kids will enjoy, from beginners to advanced coders.  Register soon, spaces are limited!  Contact Laura Scaletti (laura.scaletti@gmail.com) with any questions.  Online registration can be found here: https://skenrichment.com/clubs/montgomery/product/mary-of-nazareth-catholic-school-coding-club-winter-2020.html.
