Notes From the Office
  • The first HSA meeting of the year is tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room (social at 6:00 pm), followed by Back to School Night for parents of students in grades K-5.  There will be 2 Back to School Night sessions, 7:35 pm and 8:10 pm, to accommodate families with multiple children. 
  • Child care for MoN students in grades Pre-K through 8 is available for both the HSA meeting and Back to School Night.  You must email Dayna Ingrassia to make a reservation.  Your child will not be admitted to the child care room without a reservation. 
  • Fall Portrait Day is this Friday!  Students must be in either Fall or Winter Dress Uniform for the pictures - no PE uniforms or birthday out of uniform dress.  If your child has PE on Friday, please send sneakers.  See flyer from Freed Photography HERE for more information.
  • Please click on the link, read the Art Class letter, and share with your child. You do not need to return a signed copy. It's for your reference and explains a new approach applied this year through Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) and Choice-Based Art Education. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mrs. Laura Schneider, Art Teacher.
  • Congratulations to Mr. John Feeney, who will be inducted into the Catholic Business Network CYO Hall of Fame on Friday morning.  Please see the letter from Mr. Friel HERE which details the many years of Mr. Feeney's volunteer service to our school.
  • As we welcome all students back to school, please be sure to check your child for lice. We have seen cases at MoN and want everyone to be proactive. Please see information HERE and on the website under "Current Families", "Health Room".
  • The Spring Musical will be Shrek, Jr..  Students in grades 5-8 may audition.  Please see schedule information in the article below.
  • Mary of Nazareth School follows Montgomery County Public Schools' decisions on closings and delays.  Please see the inclement weather policy for our school on the website HERE
  • In the unlikely event of an emergency, crisis, natural disaster, or evacuation we will use the guidelines HERE to reunite parents/guardians and students. Please read this document so you are familiar with the procedure in case it is ever needed.  Note that anyone whom you designate to pick up your child MUST be listed on your office emergency form. 
  • 2018-2019 Parent and Student Handbook HERE.  Please read and review with your child.
  • Parents are required to report child absences from school to the office no later than 8:45 am each day the child is absent.   Unreported absences will be unexcused.
  • Milk is not included with hot lunch.
  • Hot lunch is a prepaid account.  Please maintain a positive balance.
Donations Requested for Art Room
The art studio classroom uses a lot of recyclables and expendable materials!  The more “goodies” we have the more creative students get. Using recyclables and donated items allows us to use the school budget to buy quality art supplies for our artists.  Thank you for donating and thinking about the art studio!

All room parents must be VIRTUS trained in order to volunteer inside the classroom. However, there are still volunteer opportunities outside of the classroom while you wait to get your training.

We think Grandparents rock…
(so don’t hide them under one)

The Development Office strives to maintain an updated list of our school’s extended families and friends. These names and addresses are used to mail invitations to Grandparents’ Day in November, as well as Development related news and correspondence throughout the school year.
In order to stay in touch with your loved ones, it’s important we have accurate contact information. We are asking that every family complete the extended family form by Friday, September 28th.

First HSA Meeting and Back to School Night (Gr. K-5)
is Thursday, September 13th!

The first HSA (Home and School Association) Meeting of the year will begin at 6:30 in the Multi-Purpose (the social 1/2 hour will begin at 6:00 pm).   Back to School Night for grades K-5 will be immediately following the HSA meeting. There will be two sessions of BTS Night - the first will begin at 7:35 pm, and the second session will begin at 8:10 to accommodate families with multiple children.  

Free childcare will be provided  during both the HSA meeting and Back to school night for Mary of Nazareth School students in Pre-K  and older.    Please contact Dayna Ingrassia to reserve a spot. 

Order your gift cards through Mary of Nazareth! Fundraise While You Shop!

SCRIP is a prepaid gift card program from national and local retailers, used just like cash, and are the same cards that you would buy at the store.  Except when you buy them from MON you are helping raise funds for our school!
There are no additional fees. Use gift cards groceries, clothing, school and household supplies, pet supplies, dining out, and of course, gifts!  Use them for yourself and family, your household, or gift them for birthdays and special occasions.
This month’s orders are due on Friday, Sept. 21
Next order will be due on Friday, Oct. 19.

Used Uniform Sale - October 12th
Save money on school uniforms through our Used Uniform program. Join us for our Used Uniform Sale on Friday, October 12th for great deals.  Your help is needed for the sale. Contact Paola Ortiz-Iannini with questions or to help.  
Race for Scholars - October 19th 
Our primary fundraiser of the year, the Race for Scholars is a fun run through the beautiful MoN campus.  Mark your calendar and watch for more information soon to register, volunteer and sponsor this event. 
Sports Committee Meeting
The first Sports Committee Meeting of the year is September 19 at 7:00 pm in the KFC.   All are welcome and encouraged to attend. The Sports Committee usually meets on the third Wednesday of the month, with a few exceptions, i.e. November. Contact Chair Kevin O’Rourke with questions.  


Mary of Nazareth School's mission is to prepare students for lives of service to God and neighbor. Accordingly, each family is asked to give of their time and talent each year at a minimum level of ten hours per year.  Please remember that all volunteers must be cleared through the Archdiocesan Child Protection Program (VIRTUS).

Box Tops

The Summer BoxTop challenge is in full swing and ends September 22th, 2018. The class with the most BoxTops collected over the summer and turned in by the deadline will win a popsicle party. Send those BoxTops in right away and don't forget to mark your child’s homeroom clearly on the bag so the class can get credit for the party! BoxTops can be sent in all year long - any received after the Summer Challenge will count towards the School Year Challenge which ends in April. Don't let the BoxTops expire in your kitchen drawer!! Grocery Programs - Free Money for

Every year, MoN participates in both the Harris Teeter Together in Eductation (TIE) and Giant A+ School Rewards programs. All you need to do is register your card and shop as you always do and MoN earns money for your purchases. Last year, MoN earned $990.96 from Harris Teeter with only 6977 participants and $811.96 from Giant with only 41 participants.

The HT program started on August 1st and runs through May 31, 2019 so you can start earning FREE money for MoN now! All you have to do is register your VIC card.

The Giant program runs from September 7, 2018 through March 16, 2019. You can register your card now - designate MoN and your purchases will start earning money for MoN starting in September. You do not need to re-register - Giant maintains your school selection so if you registered previously, MoN starts earning from your purchases right away! Ask your family and friends to register also!

Mary of Nazareth Musical Theatre is pleased to announce we will present SHREK Jr. in Spring 2019! To help students prepare for auditions, Mrs. Stone and Ms. Luyk are holding an Audition Workshop on Saturday, September 22, 10:00am til 1:00pm. Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to attend. At the workshop, students will learn songs from Shrek that will be required at the audition. No preparation is needed for the Sept 22 workshop. Attendance is not required in order to audition. We've Got Spirit, How 'Bout You!?! 

Join the MoN Cheerleading squad! Open to girls in 4th-8th grade, no prior cheer experience required. Learn cheers, jumps, and stunts while building friendships, leadership skills and having fun! Girl Scouts at MoN

 The MoN Girl Scout Troops are excited to start the 2018-2019 school year! At Girl Scouts we combine life skills, STEM, the outdoors, and entrepreneurship with civic engagement to deliver crucial, life-changing, girl-led programming. It is a great opportunity to have fun, make friends, and work together to make the world a better place. MoN has Girl Scout troops in many grades who look forward to welcoming a new Kindergarten Daisy troop to the Girl Scout community! Kindergarten Parents – Please join us for an information session to learn more about Girl Scouts for the Kindergarten girls of MoN! Please e-mail Michelle Crispino at if you are interested and we will confirm a time to meet to discuss what Girl Scouts is about and how your daughter could get involved.

-1 Soccer Clinic  

The Mary of Nazareth Sports Committee is offering an 8-week long soccer skills programs for Kindergarten and 1st grade students.   MoN students, as well as children from member parishes, are welcome to attend.

During the clinic, coaches will work with players on fundamental skills, such as dribbling, running with the ball, moves and control, shooting and teamwork. 

The clinic will be lead by a professional coaching team with licenses/certification from the English Football Association, European Union Football Association and US Soccer.

Players will be grouped by age/ability and will focus on fundamental elements: Technical, Tactical, Social and Physical. 

The cost is $130
(8 sessions).
Sessions will be Saturdays, from 9am to 1030am, starting September 8. 
Space is limited, so registration is on a first come, first served basis.
