Home and School Association (HSA)

Philosophy of Volunteering

Mary of Nazareth School’s mission is to prepare students for lives of service to God and neighbor. The philosophy of the Mary of Nazareth Volunteer Program is that our families are an example to our students, living out the Gospel teachings by serving the school, parish and larger community. HSA Fundraisers

The Mary of Nazareth School HSA is able to support our community through several fundraisers each year. We are thankful to all families for their participation in each area.

Race for Scholars

Our main fundraiser of the year, Race for Scholars, will take place this year on October 14, 2016. This activity involves a fun filled afternoon where students run together through the beautiful Mary of Nazareth School campus. Funds are raised for the school through family and business sponsorships. Contact Lisa Laffey with questions or to volunteer.

Box Tops

Mary of Nazareth School's Box Tops for Education program runs all year, and is divided into two individual competitions. The "summer challenge" ends September 16th, 2016 and the "school year" challenge ends April 28th, 2017. The homeroom that collects the most Box Tops during each respective challenge will receive a Popsicle party. Please submit your Box Tops labeled with your child’s homeroom to the front office c/o Meredith Dullaghan. Contact Paige Dullaghan with questions.

Coke Rewards

Save the caps and box codes from your Coca-Cola products. Codes may be submitted online at and points earned may be donated to Mary of Nazareth School. Funds raised from Coke rewards can be used to purchase classroom supplies.

Grocery Store Programs

Area stores offer reward programs to support schools. If you are a frequent shopper at Giant and/or Harris Teeter, be sure to link your shopping cards to their A+ Rewards and Together in Education (TIE) programs respectively.

Restaurant Nights

Take a night off from cooking and enjoy dinner with friends from Mary of Nazareth School. On restaurant nights, which are held throughout the year, participating vendors donate a percentage of sales back to the school. Contact Bridget Riley with questions.

Help raise funds for Mary of Nazareth School without spending any extra cash. The SCRIP program features gift cards to many popular stores, restaurants and retail establishments nationwide. SCRIP cards are used just like cash in stores, and most can be used to purchase from the retailer’s online store. Participating retailers may be viewed here.

How SCRIP Works:

Buy $100 worth of SCRIP from Mary of Nazareth School and spend the exact same $100 at stores, restaurants, gas stations, or hotels. Your additional cost of buying and using SCRIP is zero. Anywhere from 1.25% to 60% of your purchase, depending on the merchant, will be donated back to the school.

Sign Up for SCRIP:

  1. Check the newsletter for SCRIP order deadlines throughout the school year.

  2. Print and complete the SCRIP order form.

  3. Enclose your check made payable to Mary of Nazareth School and return it through backpack mail to Julie Fagan.

  1. Set-up a free SCRIP account, put in an order anytime, and send in your check payment through backpack mail. See the attached document for detailed instructions.
